Controlled Airspace
What is controlled airspace?
Controlled airspace is airspace of defined dimensions—classified as Class A, B, C, D, or E—within which air traffic control (ATC) service is provided to instrument flight rules (IFR) and visual flight rules (VFR) flights according to that airspace's classification. The level of service and the rules you must follow vary by class. Think of it as the "ABCDE" airspace: if it's not one of those classes, it's uncontrolled (Class G).
