What is an ACS code?
The FAA's Airman Certification Standards (ACS) break each certificate into Areas of Operation, Tasks, and specific Knowledge (K), Risk Management (R), and Skill (S) elements. Each test question maps to one code like PA.I.B.K1. Your knowledge-test report lists the codes for the questions you missed.
In the FAA's words, the ACS is a single, integrated certification standard that combines the aeronautical knowledge, risk management, and flight-proficiency skill required for each certificate or rating into one coordinated document. It replaced the older Practical Test Standards (PTS) and is the framework the FAA uses to build the knowledge (written) test and the practical test (checkride) — so the same ACS that generated your missed codes is what your examiner will test you against.
