Privacy Policy

Aviation Test Prep ("the Service" or "the App") helps you study for FAA written knowledge tests. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your email address and name, provided when you sign up (via our authentication provider, Supabase Auth).
  • Study activity — the exams you select, questions you view/answer, results, flags, and study streaks. We use this to show your progress and tailor study.
  • Subscription / entitlement status — which exams you have access to. Purchases are processed by Stripe (on the web) or Apple / Google in-app purchase (if/when enabled in the App); we do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Device & technical data — app version, OS version, and basic diagnostics needed to operate and secure the service.

We do not sell your personal information.

How we use it

  • Provide and personalize the study experience and track progress.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Determine which content your subscription unlocks.
  • Improve the App and fix problems.
  • Communicate service or account messages.

Service providers (sub-processors)

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and storage (your account + study data).
  • Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions.
  • Apple / Google — in-app purchases and subscription management (if enabled).
  • Anthropic — used server-side to (a) generate study explanations from public-domain FAA material and (b) power the optional AI Tutor (see below). For the AI Tutor, the question you type and the FAA study context we retrieve for it are sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Anthropic processes this as our service provider and does not use it to train its models. We do not send your name, email, or payment data to Anthropic.
  • Meta (Facebook) — we use the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API to measure the performance of our ads. We share hashed identifiers (such as a hashed email) and page/conversion events. See “Cookies, tracking & advertising” below, including how to opt out.
  • Zoho — SalesIQ powers our live chat and basic visitor analytics (it may set cookies and record page visits when active); we also use Zoho for CRM and marketing email.

Cookies, tracking & advertising

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in and operate the Service; these cannot be turned off.
  • Advertising & analytics. We use the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API to measure our ad campaigns (which visits and sign-ups came from an ad) and Zoho SalesIQ for live chat and visitor analytics. Under the CCPA/CPRA, this ad-measurement counts as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Your choice — “Do Not Sell or Share.” You can opt out at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. We also automatically honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal. When you opt out, we suppress the Meta Pixel, the related Meta measurement events, and the SalesIQ widget on that browser.
  • We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not use it for any opt-out-requiring purpose beyond the ad-measurement “sharing” described here.

AI Tutor (Premium)

  • The AI Tutor is an optional Premium chat feature that answers your aviation-study questions using our FAA-sourced content.
  • What's sent for processing: the messages you type and the relevant FAA study material we look up are sent to Anthropic (our AI provider) to generate the answer. They are not used to train AI models.
  • What we store: we save your AI Tutor conversations to your account so you can continue them and so we can monitor for abuse and improve the feature. You can request deletion of your conversations at privacy@aviationtestprep.com.
  • Fair use: AI Tutor usage is rate-limited and subject to a monthly message cap to keep the feature sustainable. See our Terms of Service.
  • Not professional advice: the AI Tutor is a study aid. It can be incomplete or wrong, and it is not a substitute for a certificated flight instructor or current official FAA guidance.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and data at any time — in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account), on the web (Settings → Account), or by emailing privacy@aviationtestprep.com; full instructions are at aviationtestprep.com/delete-account. We respond as required by applicable law. Deleting your account removes your profile and study records (some records may be retained where required for legal or financial reasons).

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, row-level security on the database, scoped access keys). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children

The Service is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR / UK GDPR, CCPA / CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Your U.S. state privacy rights (California & others)

If you are a resident of California (CCPA/CPRA) or another U.S. state with a consumer-privacy law (e.g. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah), you have rights regarding your personal information, subject to that law:

  • Categories we collect: identifiers (email, name), customer/account records, commercial information (subscription/entitlement status), and internet/device activity (app usage + diagnostics). Sources and purposes are described above.
  • Your rights: to know/access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to receive a portable copy — and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
  • Selling & sharing: we do not sell your personal information for money. We do “share” limited identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising (ad measurement via the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, as defined under the CCPA/CPRA). You can opt out on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, and we automatically honor Global Privacy Control signals.
  • Sensitive personal information: we do not collect or use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out.
  • How to exercise: email privacy@aviationtestprep.com or use in-app account deletion (Settings → Account → Delete Account). We verify requests via your account email and respond within the time required by law; you may use an authorized agent where permitted.

International users

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will post the new date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email.
