Arm
What is arm?
The arm is the horizontal distance, usually measured in inches, from the reference datum (a fixed reference point) to the center of gravity (CG) of an item or object. Arms to the right of the datum are positive (+), and those to the left are negative (–). Think of it as the "lever distance" — multiply an item's weight by its arm to get its moment.
