What is glideslope?
The glideslope (GS) is the part of an Instrument Landing System (ILS) that provides vertical guidance during an approach, projecting a sloped radio beam from a ground facility near the runway. The glidepath itself is the straight, descending line you fly from where the glideslope intersects your approach altitude down to the runway touchdown zone. Think of it as the "elevator" guidance that keeps you on the correct descent angle—pair it with the localizer (your horizontal guidance) and you have a full ILS approach.
