Lateral Axis
What is lateral axis?
The lateral axis is an imaginary line running through the airplane's center of gravity, extending sideways from wingtip to wingtip. Rotation about this axis is called pitch—the nose moving up or down—controlled by the elevator. Think of it as the "pitch axis": picture a skewer through the wings that the nose bobs up and down around.
