What is surface analysis chart?
A surface analysis chart is a computer-generated weather chart that shows current surface conditions across the contiguous 48 states and adjacent areas, transmitted every 3 hours. It depicts areas of high and low pressure, fronts, temperatures, dew points, wind directions and speeds, local weather, and visual obstructions. Think of it as a snapshot of the "big picture" weather at the surface right now.
