Ceiling
What is ceiling?
The ceiling is the height above the ground of the lowest cloud layer reported as broken or overcast, or the vertical visibility into an obscuration like fog or haze. Layers reported as few or scattered do not count as a ceiling because too much sky is still visible. Think of it as the lowest "solid lid" of clouds over you — broken (5/8 to 7/8 sky covered) or overcast (full coverage).
