Carburetor
What is carburetor?
A carburetor is a device in the engine's induction system that mixes incoming air with vaporized fuel as the air passes through a venturi (a narrowing in the airflow), then delivers this metered fuel/air mixture to the cylinder intake for combustion. Because fuel vaporization and the pressure drop in the venturi cause a sharp temperature decrease, carburetors are prone to ice forming when the air is moist—which is why carburetor heat is used. Think of it as the engine's "fuel-air blender," and remember that the cooling effect inside it is the source of carburetor icing.
