Minimum En Route Altitude
What is minimum en route altitude?
The Minimum En Route Altitude (MEA) is the lowest published altitude between two radio fixes that both guarantees acceptable navigational signal coverage and meets obstacle clearance requirements along that route segment. It applies to the entire width of the airway or route between those fixes. Think of it as the floor that keeps you both clear of terrain AND within range of your navigation signals—you need both, not just one.
