Moment
What is moment?
A moment is the rotational force created when weight acts at a distance from a reference point—calculated by multiplying the weight (in pounds) by the arm (in inches). It is expressed in pound-inches and can be positive or negative depending on whether it tends to rotate the aircraft nose-up or nose-down. Think of it as a seesaw: a small weight far out can balance a large weight close in, because what matters is weight times distance.
