Class E Airspace
What is Class E airspace?
Class E airspace is controlled airspace that is not Class A, B, C, or D. It extends upward from either the surface or a designated altitude (often 700 or 1,200 feet above ground level) up to the overlying controlled airspace, and where it touches the surface it is shaped to contain all instrument approach procedures. Think of it as the "everything-else" controlled airspace that fills in the gaps to protect instrument flight.
