Special Use Airspace
What is special use airspace?
Special use airspace is airspace set aside where certain activities must be confined, or where limits are placed on aircraft not taking part in those activities. It includes prohibited areas, restricted areas, warning areas, military operation areas (MOAs), alert areas, and controlled firing areas. Think of it as airspace with "house rules"—you may need permission, extra caution, or to stay out entirely depending on the type.
