Wind Correction Angle
What is wind correction angle?
The wind correction angle (WCA) is the angle between your desired track (the path over the ground you want to fly) and the aircraft's heading (where the nose is pointed) needed to compensate for wind drift. By "crabbing" into the wind, you keep the airplane tracking along your intended course even though the wind is trying to push you off it. Think of it as angling the nose into the wind just enough so the airplane's actual path over the ground stays on course.
