What is weather depiction chart?
A weather depiction chart shows surface weather conditions across a region, derived from METARs (aviation routine weather reports) and other surface observations. It is computer-generated and transmitted every 3 hours beginning at 0100 Zulu (Coordinated Universal Time), and is valid at the time the data was plotted. Think of it as a quick "big picture" snapshot to spot areas of good and poor flying weather before digging into the details.
