Stall and Spin Awareness Training

Stall and spin awareness guidance — the aerodynamics of stalls and spins and the training that prevents inadvertent entries.

About this document

AC 61-67, Stall and Spin Awareness Training, provides FAA guidance on the aerodynamics of stalls and spins and on the flight training that builds awareness and prevention. It explains how stalls and spins develop, the conditions that lead to inadvertent entries (particularly in the traffic pattern), and the training instructors should provide.

It complements the stall and spin chapters of the Airplane Flying Handbook and supports the spin-training endorsement requirements for flight instructor applicants.
